Custom WordPress plugins built around your business

When off-the-shelf plugins don't quite fit — too generic, too restrictive, too expensive, or missing the feature you actually need — we build what does. Real engineering, properly architected, with audit trails and documentation. From simple connectors to full management platforms with React dashboards.

What we build

Five kinds of WordPress plugin we build regularly

Our plugin portfolio spans every kind of business workflow that touches a WordPress site. Each plugin is custom-built but they fall into recognisable categories — and chances are your need fits one of them.
Booking & Reservation Systems
Holiday lets, campsites, village halls, motorhome aires, appointments, restaurants. Calendar logic, availability, deposits, WooCommerce-backed payments. Five live products and counting.
Management Platforms
Multi-role dashboards, custom database tables, REST APIs, role-based access. The Learner Management System is the flagship example — four React dashboards, 19 tables, 31 controllers, ESFA-compliant.
Integration & Automation Connectors
WordPress hooks into your CRM, accounts, calendar, SMS, chat, fulfilment, accounts. Forms-to-Pipedrive, WooCommerce-to-Xero, contact-to-MailerLite — whatever needs connecting.
WooCommerce Extensions
Custom product types, bespoke checkout flows, advanced pricing rules, custom shipping logic, vendor portals, subscription handling. Done as proper plugins, tested for theme conflicts, fully documented.
AI-Powered Plugins
Chatbots, AI voice handlers, AI content generators, smart enquiry triage. WordPress hooks into Vapi, OpenAI, Anthropic, Twilio and other AI APIs. Live with Block Moulds UK Ltd.
Bespoke Anything Else
If your need doesn't fit a neat category, that's fine. Most of our plugins started as bespoke builds. The categories above exist because we did the bespoke work first.
Why custom instead of off-the-shelf

Four reasons we hear from clients who switched

Exact Fit
Designed around how your business actually works, not how a plugin author thought it might.
Full Ownership
You own the code, the data, the deployment. No SaaS subscription, no surprise pricing changes.
Built to Last
WordPress-native, properly engineered. ISO 9001 / 27001 / 42001 development process. Audit logs, version control, full documentation.
Extends With You
When you need a new feature, it's a quote and a fortnight. Not a feature request to a faceless platform.

The technical reality

How we actually build a custom WordPress plugin

A real WordPress plugin. Not a Code Snippet. Not a child theme hack. A proper plugin with its own folder, namespace, autoloader, migration files, REST API controllers, capabilities, hooks, and admin pages.

The frontend is React where it makes sense — dashboards, complex forms, real-time interfaces. PHP-rendered where it's better — public pages, SEO-critical content, simple admin screens. Custom database tables when WordPress's post/meta model isn't right for the data, with versioned migrations that run on plugin activation. REST API for everything the React frontend needs, with three security checks on every endpoint: authentication, capability, and scope.

Every plugin ships with documentation, deployment instructions, and full code ownership transferred to the client on delivery.
How long it takes

Most custom plugins build in 4-12 weeks

A focused single-purpose plugin — say, a form-to-CRM connector or a custom shipping method — is typically 2-4 weeks. A medium plugin with its own admin UI and some database work — say, a small booking system or an enquiry tracker — is usually 4-8 weeks. A large multi-role platform with React dashboards, custom database tables and full REST API — like the LMS — is 8-12 weeks at most, and we built that in 23 days using our AI-accelerated methodology.

Every project starts with a discovery call. We map the work, identify must-haves vs nice-to-haves, and quote a fixed price. From that point, you know exactly what you are committing to. We deploy to staging from week one, so you see real progress every week. Weekly demos. Weekly Loom walkthroughs. No black-box six-month build with a surprise at the end.
Engineering discipline

ISO 27001 development. Audit logs. Versioned migrations.

We are ISO 9001, 27001 and 42001 certified plus Cyber Essentials. That isn't a marketing badge — it's how we work. Every code change goes through a documented review process. Every deployment is traceable. Every data write creates an audit log entry. Every database schema change is a versioned migration that can be rolled back. Every API endpoint has three security checks: authentication, capability and scope.

For most small WordPress agencies this discipline is overkill. For business-critical software — booking systems where customer money changes hands, management platforms with personal data, integrations that touch your accounts — it is the minimum bar. We build at that bar because that's what production software actually needs.
Existing site or new build

We work with your existing WordPress site, or build new

Most clients come to us with an existing WordPress site they want to extend. That's our sweet spot. We test thoroughly for theme and plugin conflicts before any plugin goes live. Breakdance, Elementor, Divi, Avada, Astra, GeneratePress, Kadence — all fine. Custom themes, headless setups, multisite installations — also fine.

If you don't have a WordPress site yet, that's a separate conversation. Our sister company Whamos builds bespoke WordPress sites, and we can scope the plugin and the site together as one project so they fit perfectly.

Support and ongoing

30 days bug-fix included, optional support thereafter

Every custom plugin we build comes with 30 days of bug-fix support included in the build price. Anything that breaks because of how we built it, we fix at no extra cost during that period.

After 30 days, optional ongoing support packages cover WordPress and PHP updates, security patches, monitoring, and a defined hours allocation for small changes. Typically £100-300 a month depending on the size of the plugin and how often you want to extend it. Or you can engage us per-change. Or, because you own the code, you can engage another developer entirely. No lock-in either way.
Where to start

A discovery call costs you nothing

If you've got a problem nothing off-the-shelf is solving — or you're paying too much for SaaS that doesn't quite fit, or you're losing time to manual workarounds, or you're worried about being locked into a platform — a 30-minute conversation will tell you whether a custom plugin is the right answer.

We'll be honest. If an off-the-shelf product would genuinely serve you better, we will tell you that and recommend the one we'd pick. If a custom build is the right answer, we'll tell you how long it would take and what it would cost. No discovery-call template, no manufactured urgency, no sales pressure.

Common questions about custom plugins

Things we get asked most often

Will the plugin work with my theme?

Almost certainly yes. We test against Breakdance, Elementor, Divi, Avada, Astra, GeneratePress and Kadence as standard. If you're on a custom theme we test on a staging copy of your site before going live. Theme conflicts are real but they are also predictable and resolvable — we resolve them as part of the build, at no extra cost.

Yes. Every plugin we ship comes with documentation explaining what it does, how to configure it, and how to deploy it. We also provide a Loom walkthrough of the admin UI. The aim is that your team can run the plugin without us — and you can engage anyone else to maintain or extend it.

Yes. WordPress and PHP updates can break things if a plugin isn't actively maintained. Our standard support packages keep your plugins up to date with the latest WordPress and PHP versions, with all changes tested on staging first.

Yes. We can build paid plugins with Freemius or EDD payment processing built in. We've done it before — Motorhome Booking is set up for Freemius monetisation. We can also build white-label plugins that you sell under your own brand.

Yes. We can take over an existing custom plugin, document what it does, fix what's broken, and extend it. We've done this several times. It's usually faster than building from scratch if the existing plugin is fundamentally sound.

Fixed price after a discovery call. Most custom plugins fall between £3,500 and £20,000. Simple connectors at the low end, full management platforms at the high end. We quote the actual price after we understand the scope.
