Technophobia Ltd is committed to a safe and healthy workplace. We meet our duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and related regulations. This policy applies to employees, contractors, and visitors, including remote workers.

1. Policy statement
  • Prevent injury and ill health through sensible, proportionate controls.
  • Provide safe equipment and working environments.
  • Consult people on health and safety matters and act on concerns.
2. Roles and responsibilities

3. Risk assessment
  • Maintain simple risk assessments for office work, remote work, driving for work, and site visits.
  • Review annually or after changes/incidents.
  • Record significant findings and controls (e.g., DSE setup, cables, trip hazards, fire routes).
4. Remote working and lone working
  • Remote workers complete a self-checklist covering workstation, lighting, and breaks.
  • Keep aisles clear, avoid trailing cables, and use surge-protected power where possible.
  • Lone working: share your schedule for out-of-hours tasks and check-in if finishing late.
5. Workstations and DSE
  • Set up screens at eye height; use an external keyboard/mouse for laptops.
  • Take short breaks (5 minutes per hour) and vary posture.
  • Request reasonable adjustments or equipment where needed.
6. Incidents, first aid, and reporting
  • Report all accidents, near misses, and work-related ill health to the appointed person the same day.
  • We keep an accident record and consider RIDDOR reporting when required.
  • First aid: basic first-aid kit kept at the office; remote workers should know local arrangements.
7. Fire safety and emergencies
  • At the office: keep exits clear, know alarm points and assembly area.
  • Remote workers: check local building procedures and exits.
  • Do not block ventilation or overload sockets; do not leave chargers on flammable surfaces.
8. Site visits and client premises
  • Follow client inductions and local rules (PPE if required).
  • Use safe lifting techniques; avoid working at height unless trained and equipped.
  • For long drives, plan breaks; avoid driving when tired.
9. Mental health and wellbeing
  • Workload planning aims to avoid sustained excessive hours.
  • Talk to your lead about stress, ill health, or adjustments needed.
  • We treat health information confidentially.
10. Training and information
  • Induction covers this policy, DSE, incident reporting, and fire safety.
  • Refreshers after policy changes or incidents.
11. Monitoring and review
  • Review this policy yearly or after significant change.
  • Track actions from incidents and assessments to closure.
